RT Convention 2017

More than 3,500 fans came out for the Giant Book Fair to meet 600 authors.

The RT Booklovers Convention is the book-industry event where you can mix business with pleasure. Attend more than 200 workshops as well as numerous parties and reader events that will keep you informed and in touch while having fun. It’s where friends new and old come together to learn about the industry we love and to have fun with authors and fellow book lovers. Fifty percent of conventioneers are first-time RT Convention attendees, and many travel by themselves. However, almost all leave having made new friendships they’ll cherish for years to come.

Who attends the RT Booklovers Convention?

READERS, BLOGGERS, REVIEWERS, BOOKSELLERS and LIBRARIANS who share a passion for books and are eager to meet more than 800 of their beloved authors who attend. These fans also enjoy the hundreds of FREE books given out at various events and the opportunity to win book-related prizes and baskets full of goodies! They also enjoy a special three-day Reader Track led by bestselling authors who go the extra mile to make readers feel special. An informative Bookseller/Librarian track is also offered to help booksellers and librarians improve sales and visibility in a changing marketplace.

ASPIRING AUTHORS interested in refining their craft and who want to learn about the book business in general. Writers in all stages of their career enjoy more than 200 workshops led by bestselling authors and industry professionals covering craft, media & marketing, self-publishing, social media and business plus workshops led by star authors in genres including Romance. Urban Fantasy, Erotica, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense, Young Adult, New Adult, Inspirational, SF/Fantasy and Mainstream Fiction.

PUBLISHED AUTHORS who want to meet more than 2,000 readers, network with fellow authors and industry professionals and who want to know more about opportunities in today’s changing market. There are many promotional opportunities available for authors, including branding and sponsorships. The Giant Book Fair, which is open to the public, is one of the highlights of the RT Convention. Thousands of fans come to meet more than 600 authors and purchase their books. Due to space restrictions, spots in the Book Fair are limited and reserved for authors on a first come, first served basis. Contact Jo Carol Jonesif you are interested in sponsoring a party or event. Weekday passes are available, as well as a weekend pass and multiple-day passes, including tickets to our all-day FAN-tastic Day and Teen Day programs. There’s an option to fit everyone’s busy schedule.

Come for the entire six-day extravaganza or come for a day‚ but don’t miss out on all the fun!


On April 1, 2017, all FULL REGISTRATIONS will increase by $50. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Day Passes and Weekend Day Passes will increase by $25.

On April 15, 2017, up to and including on-site registrations, all FULL REGISTRATIONS will increase by $75. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Day Passes and Weekend Day Passes will increase by$50.

(NOTE: There will be NO INCREASE for Saturday Day Pass, FAN-tastic Day and Teen Day Passes including tickets purchased on site.)

Grab your jammies and join your favorite YA authors for some spooky, silly fun and games! Enjoy time-honored slumber party favorites like Truth or Dare, Boy Meets Girl, Skittles and Books and Secrets, and create your very own spooky mad lib story. Snacks, swag, and prizes abound — and the best freaky, funny, and/or fantastic slippers win! (More authors TBA. Stay tuned!)

Entangled Publisher Spotlight

Modeled after the popular 1970s game show, audience members will be randomly selected as contestants to “blindly” ask three potential YA book boyfriends (aka your favorite YA authors posing as boys from popular YA books) hilarious questions before selecting one to “take home.” Additional YA authors will hang out with audience members and pass out prizes!

Riptide’s Cards Against Humanity

Join Riptide Publishing for a queer romance version of Cards of Humanity! Work as a team to come up with the most (in)appropriate, shocking, hysterical answers to prompts from your favorite Riptide authors. Win your share of free books and prizes! Meet and play with Riptide authors, and learn more about romance across the rainbow.

Entangled Candy & Spoons!

Join Entangled authors, editors, staff, and 4 drool-worthy Sara Eirew models for this sweet event. Join over 50 of your favorite Entangled authors for a cut-throat and enticing game of Spoons that will have you yelling, “Bring it on!” Will you be the last one standing? At this annual Entangled event, everyone leaves a winner! Each player leaves with a custom tote bag filled with swag, books, candy, and custom gifts you can only get at RT. Besides the custom goodie bag, Entangled is giving away hundreds of books, and 3 Grand Prizes.

Authors and readers team up and answer a host of YA lit questions like: Which District hid Katniss after she left the arena for the last time in the novel The Hunger Games? In Divergent, what are Four’s fears? How many books are in Sara Shepard’s series Pretty Little Liars? As they race to beat the clock, team members write down their answers, which are not revealed until time runs out.
